  Taba Heights Holidays

Go to hotels in the Red Sea resorts of Taba, Sharm, Dahab, & Hurghada

Taba Heights is a magical resort of four main top quality hotels all set along a stretch of golden beach. There is a walking path besides the beach that leads from the Intercontinental at one end to the Hyatt Regency at the other. The resort of Taba Heights actively encourages guests to make use of the speciality restaurants not just in your own hotel, but also in other hotels in Taba Heights through the dine around program, where you will still receive a credit towards a meal even if taken in another hotel.

The Golf Course that seemed to take so long to finish is now complete, and it must be in one of the most spectacular locations anywhere. One side is the mountains of Sinai and on the other is the calmness of the Red Sea. There are 18 holes of championship golf plus there is also a driving range and short game area, and the course is open 365 days of the year.

The village of Taba Heights is definitely worth a visit - there are cafes, souvenir shops and plenty of options to but silks, scarves, rugs, jewellery, wall-hangings and handmade crafts. Also there are a number of restaurants run by the hotels themselves here. We were lucky enough to dine at the El Fuego restaurant which is run by the Marriott Hotel and has a Mexican flavour. It made a great change from the in-hotel restaurants. There are others such as the Pub Tandoori (Indian), and the Flying Carpet (bar and restaurant). Other shops here sell lighting, crystal, wood, perfume, art, kids stuff, oriental spices, and silver. There is also a hairdresser, chemist, internet cafe and the downtown tower for great views across the Red Sea. Despite a great setting, in reality though the village is never terribly busy - to get to it, you jump on the FREE shuttle that runs every half hour until 10pm from your hotel, and takes about 5 minutes

Sofitel   (5*)

Taba Heights, Red Sea

Swimming pool at night

  • Best All Inclusive hotel in Taba Heights

The Sofitel is a classy 5* ALL-INCLUSIVE hotel in Taba Heights, which makes it fantastic value for money. It has other good points too. The rooms are the most interesting of the four hotels in Taba Heights with a combination of yellows and dark woods, and lovely attention to detail. Even the TV is enclosed in an Egyptian tomb! And finally one really good touch is that they provide you with a bottle of free mineral water every day, delivered to your mini bar.

Because it is ALL-INCLUSIVE, the Sofitel Taba Heights has a nice family atmosphere and is particularly welcoming for children with the Baboo Club and the optional family suites which give a family (or even 2 couples) extra space with a living area, table, chairs and large TV.

As with all the hotels in Taba Heights, the Sofitel has a large lagoon-style swimming pool which is partially heated in winter. There are whirlpool baths, Roman steps, islands and bridges. The hotel is right on the beach and as with all the four main hotels here they do not overload the beach with sunbeds as in other resorts, and so you always get the feeling that there is plenty of space. Of course the downside is that you have to have to get down there soon after breakfast to get a sunbed. A jetty leads to the best snorkeling (we saw an octopus last time) but for better snorkeling you should walk along to the Hyatt Regency which is next door to the Sofitel but has the best spot of all.

If you are staying for a special occasion then try and book dinner in the domed Tower which overlooks the resort with fabulous views of the Sofitel, the Red Sea and beyond. And down on the beach the Oriental Café opens every night serving Turkish coffee, green teas and a selection of water pipes, with Asian music playing in the background.

Once a week the Sofitel holds a Bedouin evening down on the beach complete with belly dancing, plenty of food, drinks and entertainment. At other times there is entertainment in La Sultana bar which we found to be of variable quality!

The main restaurant serves international buffets and there is a choice of inside or outdoor dining. The Sofitel do try and mix things up a bit by having themed evenings where you might get a special selection of Mediterranean, French, Chinese, seafood or other types of dish. The food is good, and you have an unlimited amount of rather good white wine, red wine and rose, but for top class cuisine try the Asian Restaurant which is truly superb. The restaurant is decorated with bamboo sticks and serves a wide variety of dishes such as Japanese, Chinese and Thai with soft music playing subtly in the background.

Finally there is a decent gym with modern aerobic and resistance machines and various weights. Next door is the spa and sauna with a selection of massages such as Thai and Swedish, and a small pool with relaxation area. We found this a nice place to come in the early evening before getting ready for dinner.
