Hyatt Regency, Taba HeightsBookings - 01462 677 111     What's it like? the hotel - The Hyatt regency is our best selling hotel in Taba Heights and Egypt. It is beautifully designed in the style of a Nubian village and coloured with shades of orange and gold. The setting is magnigicent; from the beach you have the Sinai Mountains behind you and to the North, while across the Red Sea are the distant lights of Eilat, Jordan and Saudi Arabia. There are three main swimming pools at the Hyatt Regency; a lap pool plus two delightful swimming pools with waterfalls, split levels and a bar. There are ample shaded sunchairs around each. And you should also make time for the spa. There is a good gym, sauna, jacuzzi, steam room and a small relaxation area with an extensive menu for various types of massage. You could easily spend a whole afternoon here as they do combination treatments, for example a foot massage followed by an Egyptian Peel, and finished off with a Cleopatra bath. The are a handful of good places to have a relaxing drink before or after dinner. Palm Court is a small courtyard with a central Arabic fountain, palm trees (which were lit in different colours after dusk), and lanterns. Here you can sit on cushions or around the tables and drink Arabic coffee, flavoured teas, cocktails, beers, smoke water pipes, and sample fresh pastries, while watching the musicians playing in the background. By contrast, the main bar is spectacularly designed. Drink bottles are stacked in mini arches behind the bar making a very interesting sight. Many people choose to drink outside on the terrace which has wonderful views across Taba Heights and the Red Sea. As well as the main restaurant which guests are entitled to eat as part of the Half Board package, there are a few others that look very good. For top quality food, the Lebanese restaurant has spectacular views over the gardens and across to Jordan. Meanwhile for a romantic option I particularly liked Breeze which is located by the pool. Soft music plays in the background, to compliment the sounds of the flowing water, and food is served from an open flame charcoal grill - a great atmosphere. Because the Hyatt Regency was the first hotel in Taba Heights, it has grabbed the best spot for snorkelling. Just walk to the end of the jetty and you will find an abundance of spectacularly colourful marine life. Finally, for an unforgettable night, the Hyatt Regency puts on a traditional Bedouin evening in the desert at the foothills of the Sinai Mountains just outside Taba Heights. Seating is on comfortable cushions or carpets, either in a Bedouin tent or alfresco under the stars. You will be served a delicious feast at low wooden tables by village dwellers dressed in robes of the region, including mezzas and handmade bread, and be treated to folkloric entertainment. the resort - Taba Heights is a magical resort of four main top quality hotels all set along a stretch of golden beach. There is a walking path besides the beach that leads from the Intercontinental at one end to the Hyatt Regency at the other. The resort of Taba Heights actively encourages guests to make use of the speciality restaurants not just in your own hotel, but also in other hotels in Taba Heights through the dine around program, where you will still receive a credit towards a meal even if taken in another hotel. The Golf Course that seemed to take so long to finish is now complete, and it must be in one of the most spectacular locations anywhere. One one side is the mountains of Sinai and on the other is the calmness of the Red Sea. There are 18 holes of championship golf plus there is also a driving range and short game area, and the course is open 365 days of the year. The village of Taba Heights is definitely worth a visit - there are cafes, souvenir shops and plenty of options to but silks, scarves, rugs, jewellery, wall-hangings and handmade crafts. Also there are a number of restaurants run by the hotels themselves here. We were lucky enough to dine at the El Fuego restaurant which is run by the Marriott Hotel and has a Mexican flavour. It made a great change from the in-hotel restaurants. There are others such as the Pub Tandori (Indian), and the Flying Carpet (bar and restaurant). Other shops here sell lighting, crystal, wood, perfume, art, kids stuff, oriental spices, and silver. There is also a hairdresser, chemist, internet cafe and the downtown tower for great views across the Red Sea. Despite a great setting, in reality though the village is never terribly busy - to get to it, you jump on the FREE shuttle that runs every half hour until 10pm from your hotel, and takes about 5 minutes What's Included?
