Quick guide to the Red Sea resorts of Taba Heights, Sharm, Dahab, Hurghada, & Makadi There are several resorts on the Red Sea but which one do you choose? Let's start with our most popular Red Sea resort, Taba Heights. People come here for a chill out holiday, maybe some snorkeling and diving, but generally a relaxing holiday with some unique excursions to Petra and Eilat, but little in the way of noisy nightlife. It is a calm, peaceful and incredibly beautiful resort. It is also the best value in terms of price.
For a livelier alternative, choose Sharm el Sheikh, the busiest resort on the Red Sea. Here you will find a huge variety of bars, restaurants, shops and nightlife. However many of the hotels are built well away from the centre, and so you can still have a relaxing holiday here. It is worth going alone just to stay at the fabulous Hyatt Regency Sharm.
About an hour away from Sharm el Sheikh is the Bohemian style Dahab, a small laid back Red Sea town with a few hotels and a great promenade where you can sit in a cafe along the shores of the Red Sea and watch the world go by.
Hurghada and Makadi are two more options, with Hurghada boasting one of the finest hotels in Egypt - the Oberoi Sahl Hasheesh. From here it is easier to get to Luxor than any other resort, although Petra is more difficult. Makadi is one of the new Red Sea resorts, with the Makadi Palace being the top hotel.
