About an hour away from Sharm el Sheikh is the Bohemian style Dahab, a small laid back Red Sea town with a few hotels and a great promenade where you can sit in a cafe along the shores of the Red Sea and watch the world go by. Hurghada is a further option boasting one of the finest hotels in Egypt - the Oberoi Sahl Hasheesh. From here it is easier to get to Luxor than any other resort, although Petra is more difficult.
